Why I Chose Taiga Boards for My Paddleboard Business (and Myself)

When I started incorporating stand-up paddleboarding into my yoga offerings and outdoor experiences, I knew I wanted gear that reflected not only quality and performance but also my own values. Choosing the right paddleboard brand wasn’t just about what looked good or floated best. It had to feel like an extension of my brand: nature-rooted, intentional, beautiful in design, and built to last.
Taiga is a proudly Canadian company based out of Montreal, which instantly felt like a natural fit. As someone with deep French Canadian roots and a heart rooted in the boreal forest, supporting a homegrown brand was important to me. Their boards are thoughtfully designed right here in Canada by a passionate, community-minded team. It's that sense of intention and local connection really sealed the deal.
And then there’s the name: Taiga
The taiga is the boreal forest biome that blankets much of Canada, and it’s the forest I call home. It’s the one I paddle in, guide retreats in, and draw inspiration from every day. The connection was immediate. The company’s designs reflect that same woodsy spirit, with earthy tones, clean minimalism, and thoughtful attention to detail. Their boards feel like they belong in nature. No bright flashy neons or gimmicks, just beautifully designed boards that flow with the forest around them.
Minimalist, functional design that blends into the wild
One of the things that drew me in instantly was the aesthetic. Taiga boards have this understated, timeless elegance. Think natural wood-inspired details, earthy colour palettes, and sleek lines. As someone who deeply values minimalism and simplicity, this kind of design matters. It’s calming. It feels aligned. The earthy tones and woodsy feel align with our Rebel Soul branding.
Stable, durable, and versatile boards
Over the years, I’ve tried many paddleboards. There is so much out there with different brands, shapes, and sizes. But none have felt quite as grounded and steady as my Taiga boards. They’re the most stable I’ve ever been on, which is incredibly important, especially for yoga on the water, new paddlers, or simply those who want to feel safe and secure out on the lake. Their durability is unmatched, too. I’ve had my boards for years now, and they’ve held up beautifully—no warping, no “banana-ing,” no weird wear. They remain firm, flat, and smooth on the water.
Details that matter
Taiga doesn’t cut corners on the little things. From their strong, thoughtfully made fins to their quality board bags and beautifully crafted paddles (hello carbon fibre with wood grain!), everything feels intentional and solid. Whether you're choosing an inflatable or hard board, every component, from pump to paddle, is designed with care and built to last. I love how the centre carry handle on the boards is removable - this is such a nice detail, especially for SUP Yoga.
A board for every type of paddler
Another reason I love Taiga is their wide range of models. Whether you're into SUP yoga, long-distance touring, casual lake paddles, or river adventures, there's a board designed for your style. As someone who guides others into paddleboarding for the first time, and also loves to push her own boundaries, I appreciate having options that grow with you.
I’m proud to be a Taiga affiliate
I believe in Taiga so much that I became an affiliate partner. That means when you buy a board (or any gear!) through me, you get 10% off your entire purchase with the code: RS2025PROMO.
I highly recommend checking our the Taiga Website to see if there's a board there for you!
Your support not only helps you invest in an incredible board, but it also supports my small business and the work I do to bring meaningful, nature-connected experiences to life.
Curious about which board is right for you?
I created a full blog post that walks you through how to choose a paddleboard based on your needs, lifestyle, and goals. You can check that out [here]
Whether you're a first-time paddler or looking to level up your gear, Taiga boards are an incredible investment. For me, they check all the boxes: local Canadian roots, aligned values, forest-inspired design, and unbeatable performance. I trust these boards with my business and my personal adventures, and I’m proud to paddle Taiga.
