Rooted and Free: An 8-Week Journey into the Chakras

Eight weeks. Seven chakras. One journey home to yourself.

As the leaves turn and the air cools, nature invites us to root down and let go, making space for what truly matters. This semester, we’ll travel through the seven chakras, starting with the stability of the root and rising toward the spacious freedom of the crown.

This Yin Yang Yoga immersion is a guided journey to explore the chakra through mindful movement, stillness, breathwork, meditation, and reflection. The yin portion of the practice offers deep stillness to nourish the connective tissues and invites introspection, while the yang portion builds warmth, strength, and balance.

This is not only a stretch class; it’s a holistic experience where you’ll learn about each chakra’s qualities, imbalances, and how to bring harmony to your mind, body, and spirit. You’ll leave each session feeling grounded, clear, and revitalized, with insights you can carry into daily life.

What to expect from each session:

  • Guided yin and yang flow practice designed to align and balance a specific chakra
  • Breathwork and meditation to deepen awareness of the energy body
  • Simple take-home reflections or practices to integrate the week’s theme
  • A supportive, all-levels environment where you can meet the practice exactly where you are
  • A built-in accountability system for yourself to show up for yourself each week

Who is this immersion for?

  • Those seeking a deeper, more intentional yoga practice beyond the physical postures
  • Anyone interested in exploring the chakra system for personal growth and energy balance
  • People want to reduce stress, restore their nervous system, and reconnect with themselves

The curriculum for each week:

  • Week 1 – Introduction: The Map Within We open the journey with an overview of the chakras: energy centers as a bridge between body and spirit. This is where we set intentions, meet the group energy, and begin rooting into the practices that will carry us through the season.
  • Week 2 – Root Chakra (Muladhara) Ground into safety, stability, and trust. Feel the earth beneath you as an anchor in times of change.
  • Week 3 – Sacral Chakra (Svadhisthana) Flow into creativity, pleasure, and emotional expression. Loosen the grip of rigidity and rediscover your fluidity.
  • Week 4 – Solar Plexus (Manipura) Ignite your inner fire, willpower, and self-confidence. Move with clarity and purpose.
  • Week 5 – Heart Chakra (Anahata) Open to love, compassion, and gratitude. Soften the walls and expand your capacity to give and receive.
  • Week 6 – Throat Chakra (Vishuddha) Find your authentic voice. Speak your truth with courage and kindness.
  • Week 7 – Third Eye (Ajna) Awaken your intuition. Learn to trust the quiet whispers of wisdom.
  • Week 8 – Crown Chakra (Sahasrara) Rise into connection with the bigger picture feeling both grounded in your roots and free in your expansion.

This immersion is designed for all levels. While Yin’s long-held stillness is often perceived as a practice for seasoned practitioners who have explored their inner world, you will be guided and supported in discovering the practice at your own pace.

Earth Element Yin Yang Immersion: Theory & Practice

This specialty workshop is designed for yoga teachers, aspiring teachers, and dedicated practitioners ready to deepen their understanding of yin yoga, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and the wisdom of the elements.

Friday, September 26 | Porcupine Ski Runenrs | 5:30–8:30 pm

We’ll begin with a theoretical exploration of the Earth element in the late summer season. You'll gain an understanding of the Earth element qualities of nourishment and balance, meridian pathways and emotions associated with the Earth, and how these teachings can restore harmony in modern life.

From there, we’ll move into a 75-minute embodied yin-yang practice, where we will break down yin poses that correspond to the Earth element and integrate this wisdom into direct experience. This practice will offer both personal insight and inspiration for how to weave elemental theory into your own practice.

What you’ll gain:

  • A deeper understanding of the Earth element through the lens of yin-yang and TCM
  • Knowledge of yin poses that support and balance the stomach & spleen meridians
  • An embodied experience of how theory comes alive in practice
  • Tools to integrate elemental wisdom into your own teaching and personal practice

Investment: $60

🧘‍♀️ What to bring: Yoga mat, block, and blanket if possible.

The Art of Holding Space: Trauma-Informed Practices for Teachers, Healers, and Space Holders

Join us for a 3-hour workshop designed to deepen your understanding of trauma-informed approaches and how to weave them into the way you guide, teach, and support others.

What to Expect

  • Guided Yoga Practice led by Sylvie Lamothe to ground and embody a trauma-information practice
  • Understanding Trauma: a presentation and discussion with psychotherapist (qualifying) Amelia Chaput on what trauma is and what every space holder should know
  • Practical Tools for Teachers and Leaders: tips and guidance from yoga educator Sylvie Lamothe on trauma-informed language, holding safe space, and building more inclusive, compassionate environments

Who It’s For & Why It Matters
This workshop is especially designed for yoga teachers, but also valuable for coaches, healers, and anyone who holds space for others. As teachers, our role isn’t to heal or fix trauma, but to create spaces where students feel safe, empowered, and respected in their own practice.

Why trauma-informed teaching matters:

  • Many students carry unseen stories and experiences onto the mat.
  • Simple choices in language, tone, and options can make a class feel supportive rather than triggering.
  • Trauma-informed awareness builds trust and inclusivity, allowing every student to engage at their own pace.
  • When students feel safe they will keep coming back to their mats or the space you offer
  • Learning how to hold space with compassion helps you show up as a more confident, attuned, and ethical teacher.

By the end of this workshop, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of trauma, practical tools for teaching, and the confidence to create safer, more welcoming spaces for everyone who steps into your classes.

Art of Holding Space Workshop
